Frown lines are nothing to frown about with the help of Botox® and our expert injectors.
Botox® is a quick and easy injectable treatment that can effectively reduce the appearance of wrinkles without surgery. Botox is the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment every year. Botox works by limiting muscle movement in certain areas of the face that wrinkle or fold with certain facial expressions. It achieves this thanks to a tiny amount of botulinum toxin that blocks nerve signals from activating muscles in the area it’s injected into. Over time, these movements can cause wrinkles and folds to form with normal expressions like smiling or squinting. Botox injected into the individual muscles relaxes wrinkles and leaves a rejuvenated, refreshed look.
Botox can help address many dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles caused by moving facial muscles) throughout the face, including:
- the “11 lines” between the brows
- crow’s feet
- smoker’s lines around the lips
- Severe forehead lines
Some of the most popular areas for Botox include treatment to raise eyebrows for a “Botox browlift,” and treatments to reduce wrinkles in the and the chin (also referred to as the “peau d’orange” for an “orange peel” appearance that comes with age).
Botox has been in use for many decades and is FDA-approved for cosmetic use as a way to treat frown lines and crow’s feet, among other locations. Some of the benefits of Botox include that the appointment is quick, there’s no downtime, and you can enjoy a natural look shortly after the first injection.
Botox is commonly combined with dermal fillers for highly effective facial rejuvenation without surgery. Botox has a lot of different uses, meaning many different people can benefit from it. Some of the most common reasons we hear from patients opting for Botox include:
- “My forehead wrinkles make me look tired and older than I feel.”
- “I’m beginning to see severe frown lines and don’t want them to keep forming.”
- “I want to look younger but don’t want surgery yet.”
The best candidates for Botox are those who wish to prevent wrinkles and fine lines before they start or who wish to treat existing moderate to severe facial wrinkles and lines. A consultation with one of our expert PAs, Nurse Injectors, or Dr. Coan will help determine if you are a candidate for Botox. Most people who are generally healthy are good candidates for Botox injection, although make sure to disclose all your medical conditions, including muscle or nerve conditions, during your consultation, as these could make Botox unsafe.
Botox can be easily performed during your lunch break at our state-of-the-art facility. Before the injection process begins, we can apply a topical numbing cream for maximum comfort. Our expert injectors will use a very fine needle to place the product into the individual muscles causing unwanted wrinkles. A handful of small injections may be needed to make sure your ideal results are achieved.
Although patients see some improvement right away, it can take up to two weeks for your final results to emerge. There’s no downtime required, meaning you can return to your regular activities. Your Botox results will last between three and four months, after which you can return for re-treatment with our expert injectors.
You might experience some minor swelling and bruising after treatment, but this usually subsides within a day or so. You can use an ice pack to manage any discomfort but should avoid massaging or rubbing the area. It’s safe to continue your regular skincare regimen and cosmetic product use after treatment.

How long does Botox last?
Botox typically lasts between 3-4 months depending on your regular activity levels. We recommend patients sticking to a consistent treatment regimen to fully reap the benefits of Botox.
What are common areas to treat with Botox?
Our nurse injectors can treat a variety of areas, including glabella (“11s” or between the brows), crow’s feet, and forehead. Other areas include the “lip flip” to create a subtle pucker, the masseter muscle, and Platysmal bands.
When will I see results with my Botox treatment?
Most clients begin seeing Botox treatment results within 5 to 10 days, with full effects at the 2-week mark.
Is one brand or product better than Botox?
Botox Cosmetic is the most popular neurotoxin worldwide. We encourage you to schedule a skin analysis with one of our Expert Medical Injectors so you may determine the treatment that works best for you.
Is it possible to get Botox the day before or the same day as a big event?
Yes, Botox has no significant downtime other than a few possible marks at the injection site (these generally resolve within a few hours). If you are concerned about looking your best before a big event, you may consider scheduling treatment about two weeks in advance for your optimal full treatment effects.
What is the typical recovery time for Botox?
You should be able to resume your normal activity just after receiving Botox treatments. We simply recommended you avoid laying down for 4 hours after treatment and avoid high-impact or strenuous activities (like working out) for 24 hours.
Does it hurt to get Botox?
Patients describe Botox injections like a little “snap” or “pinch” at the injection site. While some clients are more sensitive than others nearly all clients tolerate the treatment well.
How does Botox get rid of wrinkles?
Botox relaxes the movement of the facial muscles that create wrinkles and lines on the face. Botox treatments work by blocking the uptake of acetylcholine by the muscles of the face. Through this process, facial wrinkles soften and may in some cases be eliminated entirely.
Can I get Botox done the same day as another injectable procedure?
Yes, you can receive Botox the same day you receive other injectable treatments. There is no contraindication to receiving multiple treatments to the face on the same day.
What happens if Im not happy with the results?
CARE Plastic Surgery is focused on your results. If you ever need an adjustment after your Botox treatment, CARE will gladly offer a complimentary correction up to two weeks after your procedure.
What are some sides effects of having Botox injects in your face region?
Common side effects may include temporary headaches, minor swelling or bleeding at the injection site, and/or bruising. These side effects are often minor in severity and typically self-resolve fairly quickly. We encourage our patients to avoid blood-thinning agents, such as NSAIDS or alcohol consumption, prior to treatment to minimize any bleeding or bruising.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BOTOX AND OTHER NEUROMODULATORS LIKE DYSPORT AND XEOMIN?
Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin all serve as injectable neuromodulators to eliminate and soften the appearance of facial expression lines. At CARE, we consider Botox the gold-standard neuromodulator injection. The Dysport formula is more diluted than Botox, requiring a higher dosage to achieve the same results of Botox. At CARE, we are outcome-focused for our patients, striving to provide our patients with the best results possible. We find that Botox is predictable with both effective and lasting results.
Is Botox safe to use on your face?
Botox is FDA-approved for glabella region, crow’s feet, and forehead. There are countless clinical studies available ensuring the safety and efficacy of Botox for prevention of wrinkles.
Does Botox work for sagging eyebrows?
With the appropriate dosage and treatment plan, Botox can serve to open and brighten the eyes. This allows patients to achieve a refreshed appearance.
Will my face look unnatural?
One of the understated beauties of Botox is that oftentimes, others cannot tell you had it! At CARE Plastic Surgery, we pride ourselves on a natural aesthetic that enhances your natural beauty!
How much will I need?
Our injectors will recommend appropriate dosages for the areas you wish to treat. Common dosages include 10-15 units for the forehead, 20-25 units for glabella region, and 15-20 units for crow’s feet. However, some patients may require more or less depending on the frequency of treatment and strength of muscle. Ultimately, our highly-skilled providers will consult with you to develop the best treatment plan for you and your aesthetic goals.
Whats the difference between Botox® and fillers?
Botox is a neuromodulator that works to relax muscles to prevent wrinkling of the skin. Botox serves to be a preventative treatment before dynamic, or moving, wrinkles become static, or fixed. Fillers primarily serve to restore volume loss due to aging and/or genetics. Fillers can be used to augment and enhance lips, as well. Juvederm fillers are comprised of hyaluronic acid (found in our own bodies) and typically last anywhere between 12-24 months.
