With A Warm, Caring Staff and Stunningly Natural Results,
Our Approach to Surgery is Anything but Plastic

Not all breast implants are created equal. At CARE Plastic Surgery, double-board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Brian S. Coan offers patients in Raleigh and Cary, NC access to some of the most trusted implant technology available, including Natrelle breast implants by Allergan Aesthetics. FDA-approved and backed by decades of clinical research, Natrelle implants are a premier choice for women who want natural-looking breast augmentation results they can feel confident in for years to come.

A Natural Approach to Breast Augmentation

At CARE Plastic Surgery, breast augmentation is not about creating a one-size-fits-all look. Many of our patients are looking for enhancements that feel aligned with their body rather than obvious or overdone.

Dr. Coan takes a highly individualized approach, considering your natural anatomy and proportions, lifestyle factors such as activity level, desired level of fullness and projection, and how the results will continue to look as your body changes over time.

Whether using Natrelle implants or other advanced options, the goal is always the same: results that look like you, just elevated.

What Are Natrelle Implants?

Natrelle breast implants are FDA-approved silicone gel implants developed by Allergan Aesthetics. What sets them apart from traditional silicone implants is their cohesive gel filling. The gel used in Natrelle implants is thicker and more form-stable than conventional silicone, which means the implant holds its shape under pressure and maintains a natural contour over time. This quality has earned them the nickname “gummy bear” implants, because much like the candy, they retain their form even when cut.

At CARE Plastic Surgery, Dr. Coan offers Natrelle implants as part of a comprehensive breast augmentation approach. Patients appreciate these implants for their soft feel, durability, and the wide variety of shapes and sizes available, all of which allow for a truly personalized outcome.

Natrelle Inspira Round Implants

The Natrelle Inspira line features three distinct round implant options, each offering a different level of cohesiveness to suit individual preferences:

  • Inspira Responsive: The softest option in the Inspira collection, offering a feel closest to a traditional silicone implant while still providing the benefits of a cohesive gel.
  • Inspira SoftTouch: A step up in firmness, this implant delivers a gummier feel with added stability, making it a popular middle-ground choice.
  • Inspira Cohesive: The most form-stable of the three, this option brings the cohesiveness associated with anatomical implants but in a full, round shape. It is an excellent choice for patients who want greater projection and fullness in the upper pole of the breast.

Dr. Coan will discuss which option aligns best with your anatomy, goals, and lifestyle during your consultation.

Why Patients Choose Natrelle Implants

Many patients considering breast augmentation today are looking for results that feel as natural as they look, while also choosing an implant with a strong track record of safety and performance. Natrelle breast implants are one of the most trusted options available, known for their ability to balance softness, structure, and long-term shape retention.

Patients often choose Natrelle implants because they:

  • Offer a soft, natural feel that closely mimics breast tissue
  • Maintain their shape over time with cohesive gel technology
  • Provide a wide range of profiles and cohesiveness levels for a customized result
  • Have decades of clinical research and long-term safety data

When comparing Natrelle to other implant options, many patients appreciate this balance of natural feel and proven reliability. At CARE Plastic Surgery, Dr. Coan will guide you through your options and recommend the approach that best aligns with your anatomy, lifestyle, and aesthetic goals.

Candidates for Natrelle Implants

Natrelle implants may be a strong fit for patients who:

  • Are in good overall health and at a stable weight
  • Want to increase breast volume, improve symmetry, or restore fullness lost after pregnancy or weight changes
  • Prefer the look and feel of silicone over saline
  • Are seeking a customizable result with a natural appearance
  • Are at least 22 years of age, as required by FDA guidelines for silicone implants
  • Have realistic expectations about outcomes and recovery

During your consultation at CARE Plastic Surgery, Dr. Coan will evaluate your breast tissue, skin laxity, and chest measurements to determine whether Natrelle implants are the right choice for your anatomy. Not every implant type is appropriate for every patient, and Dr. Coan takes a personalized approach to every recommendation he makes.

How Are Natrelle Implants Inserted?

Natrelle implant placement is performed as an outpatient procedure under MAC anesthesia. The surgery itself typically takes one to two hours, depending on the specifics of your treatment plan.

Dr. Coan will discuss incision placement with you in advance. Common options include the inframammary fold (beneath the breast) and the periareolar incision (around the nipple). Each has its own set of advantages, and the best choice depends on your anatomy and the implant profile selected.

Once the incision is made, Dr. Coan creates a pocket either beneath the breast tissue (subglandular) or beneath the pectoral muscle (submuscular). The Natrelle implant is then carefully positioned, and the incision is closed. Patients return home the same day, but will return to CARE the next day for their post-op appointment and then in the following weeks and months to ensure they are healing properly.

Dr. Coan and the CARE Plastic Surgery team will provide detailed post-operative instructions to support a smooth healing process.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do Natrelle implants last?

Natrelle implants are designed to be durable and long-lasting, but they are not considered lifetime devices. Many patients go 10 to 20 years or more without needing a replacement. Dr. Coan recommends routine monitoring and will advise you on when imaging or replacement may be appropriate.

Are Natrelle implants safe?

Yes. Natrelle implants are FDA-approved and have undergone extensive clinical testing. Because they use a cohesive gel, the risk of gel migration is significantly lower than with older-generation silicone implants. As with any surgical procedure, there are risks involved, and Dr. Coan will review all of them with you during your consultation.

What is the difference between Natrelle implants and saline implants?

Saline implants are filled with sterile salt water, while Natrelle implants use a cohesive silicone gel. Most patients find that silicone implants feel closer to natural breast tissue. Natrelle implants also tend to have less visible rippling, particularly in patients with thinner breast tissue. Dr. Coan can help you weigh the pros and cons of each option based on your anatomy.

Will Natrelle implants look natural?

Natrelle implants are specifically designed to mimic the natural feel and movement of breast tissue. The Inspira round collection offers options that range from soft and responsive to firm and full, so the result can be tailored to look as natural or as enhanced as you prefer. Proper implant sizing and placement by a skilled surgeon like Dr. Coan also play a major role in achieving a natural outcome.

What is recovery like after Natrelle implant surgery?

Most patients experience some swelling, tightness, and soreness in the days following surgery. Light activity is typically possible within one to two weeks, while strenuous exercise is usually restricted for four to six weeks. Dr. Coan will provide thorough aftercare guidance to help you recover safely and comfortably. Follow-up appointments will also be scheduled to monitor the progress of your healing.
