How Can I Get the Most Natural Looking Breast Implants?

With A Warm, Caring Staff and Stunningly Natural Results,
Our Approach to Surgery is Anything but Plastic

How many women do you know with breast implants? Considering that breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic surgical procedure year after year, more women than you probably realize have breast implants. Many estimates put the total number of women with breast implants in the U.S. at over 5 million, roughly 4-5% of the adult female population. Your child’s teacher, the cashier at the grocery store, and your next-door neighbor may all have implants, and you’ll never know unless they tell you.

Do you want natural-looking breast implants? Here’s how to get them.

Natural Looking Breast Implants- What You Need to Know

Natural-looking breast augmentation results are possible. We’ll share our best tips for achieving these results below. If you have questions or need personalized advice, call our offices and schedule a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Coan. At CARE Plastic Surgery, we are well known for our natural-looking breast augmentation results.

Not Too Big and Not Too Small

Size is an important consideration if you want your breast augmentation results to look natural. Go too small, and you’ll be disappointed by your results. Get implants that are too big, and you’ll look out of proportion and fake. The right size implants can vary substantially, depending on your anatomy. The width of your chest, the amount of breast tissue you already have, and your goals for surgery all play a role in determining maximum implant size.

We’ll work with you to choose implants that enhance your appearance without looking fake or overdone. Shape, projection, and size work together to achieve your ideal breast appearance.

Saline vs. Silicone

Saline and silicone implants are both excellent options for breast augmentation. Many women can achieve natural-looking results with either. However, some women will benefit from silicone implants. Silicone implants look and feel like natural breast tissue, even outside the breast. If you want large implants or have little natural breast tissue, we may recommend silicone implants.

Implant Position- Over or Under the Muscle?

Implants can be placed over or under the pectoral muscle. Placement over the muscle offers a shorter recovery, but under the muscle, placement can look more natural in some patients. We’ll work with you to determine the best position for your implants.

Do You Need a Lift?

Place implants in saggy breasts, and you’ll get bigger, still saggy breasts. If you have moderate to severe breast ptosis, you may need a breast lift with your breast augmentation. This will reposition the breast tissues, allowing for a more natural and youthful look once the implants are in place. For minor sagging, we can use a periareolar incision to remove some excess skin.

Incisions and Scars

Many women worry about incisions and scars on their breasts. Most of the time, scarring is minimal, and with carefully placed incisions, it won’t be noticeable, even without clothing on. We typically use inframammary incisions (incisions hidden in the breast fold under the breast) or periareolar incisions (incisions made around the areola and hidden in the transition). We’ll recommend the best option for you during your consultation, but once you’re healed, visible scarring shouldn’t be a concern.

Choosing the Right Surgeon for Your Natural-Looking Breast Augmentation

Our best advice for natural-looking breast augmentation is simple. Choose your surgeon carefully. A skilled plastic surgeon can help you choose implants that are the right size and shape for your anatomy and will properly place your implants for a natural-looking result. If you’re in the Cary area, see Dr. Coan for your breast augmentation. If you can’t make it in to see us, here are some qualifications to look for when choosing a plastic surgeon:

  • Board Certification– Choose a board-certified plastic surgeon. This shows that your surgeon has advanced training, experience, and skill in plastic surgery. Dr. Coan is double-board certified.
  • Lots of Breast Augmentation Experience– Look for a surgeon that regularly performs breast augmentation. Before and after photos can give you a better idea of the results you can expect from your surgeon.
  • Excellent Patient Reviews– Past patients are a valuable source of information. Read your potential surgeon’s reviews, especially those from breast augmentation patients.
  • Good Communication– To achieve the best breast augmentation results, you’ll need to work closely with your surgeon. Choose a surgeon that is easy to talk to and takes the time to answer your questions and address concerns. Good communication is essential for good results.
