What is FaceTite?

FaceTite is a minimally-invasive skin skin-tightening procedure that uses radiofrequency- assisted lipolysis (RFAL) technology, similar to BodyTite.  Through tiny incisions, a small probe is inserted beneath the skin to deliver controlled radiofrequency energy. This process stimulates collagen production and reduces small pockets of fat, resulting in tighter, smoother, more youthful skin. FaceTite is often an excellent alternative to facelift or neck lift surgery for patients seeking rejuvenation without extensive downtime. Many see noticeable improvement after one session, though results can vary depending on skin laxity and individual goals.

Benefits of Minimally-Invasive Face Contouring with FaceTite

The FaceTite procedure offers patients the ability to tighten skin and reduce fat without undergoing major surgery. Key benefits of FaceTite include:

  • Skin tightening without large scars
  • Minimal downtime
  • Improved skin texture and firmness
  • Targeted fat reduction
  • Natural-looking, long-lasting results

This cosmetic procedure is ideal for patients with moderate signs of aging who want visible results without the downtime or risks of traditional surgery.

Am I a Candidate for FaceTite?

FaceTite is best suited for those with mild to moderate skin laxity, early jowling, or sagging in the lower face and neck. It’s also a great option for patients who prefer shorter recovery compared to a facelift. During a consultation at our Cary office, we can determine whether FaceTite is the best option for you depending on your unique needs and concerns.

What Areas Can FaceTite Treat?

FaceTite is designed to address the most common areas affected by skin laxity and fat accumulation. The procedure can tighten and contour:

  • Lower face and jowls
  • Neck and under the chin
  • Cheeks

Because FaceTite uses small incisions and a separate tube with a radiofrequency-assisted handpiece, it allows for precise treatment of delicate tissues.

How Does FaceTite Work?

FaceTite uses radiofrequency energy to heat tissues beneath the skin’s surface. This controlled heating contracts existing collagen fibers and triggers the body’s natural production of new collagen, resulting in firmer, smoother skin over time.

As we age, collagen levels decline, leading to wrinkles and sagging. By reactivating collagen production, FaceTite restores a more lifted and youthful contour that continues to improve for months after treatment.

Typical Procedure Steps & Recovery Timeline

FaceTite is performed under MAC anesthesia; you will be asleep for this procedure. Once the area is numb, Dr. Coan makes a small incision and inserts a thin FaceTite probe beneath the skin. This specialized device delivers radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin while simultaneously cooling the surface to protect it from damage.

This dual-action technology allows for precise tissue tightening and gentle liquefaction of small fat deposits—achieving smoother, firmer contours without the need for extensive recovery. A treatment session generally takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Most patients experience mild swelling or bruising for a few days, with any discomfort easily managed using over-the-counter medication. Many return to normal activities within three to five days, though strenuous exercise should be avoided for about one to two weeks to allow for optimal healing.

How Soon Will You See FaceTite Results?

Most patients notice initial improvements within about two weeks as swelling subsides. Over the following three to six months, collagen remodeling continues beneath the skin’s surface, gradually enhancing tightness, contour, and texture.

Results continue to refine and can last up to five years, depending on individual skin quality, lifestyle, and the natural aging process. Learn more about the benefits of FaceTite in our blog post.

FaceTite vs. Traditional Facelift & Other Contouring Options

When compared to a full facelift, FaceTite offers a visible improvement with shorter recovery and smaller risks:

  • FaceTite: Minimally invasive, performed under local anesthesia or mild sedation, small incisions only, short recovery, natural improvements in skin laxity and fat reduction.
  • Facelift: Major surgery performed by a surgeon under general anesthesia, longer downtime, more dramatic results, and a higher risk of scarring.
  • Traditional liposuction: Removes fat but does not improve collagen production or skin tightening, making FaceTite a better choice for sagging skin.

For patients with moderate signs of aging who want to tighten skin and reduce fat without the downtime of surgery, FaceTite can be an ideal solution.

FaceTite vs. Morpheus8 and Other Skin Tightening Treatments

Both FaceTite and Morpheus8 utilize radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production and enhance skin laxity. However, they differ in approach and results:

  • FaceTite: Uses radiofrequency-assisted liposuction to reduce fat cells while tightening deeper tissues through a small electrode inserted under the skin.
  • Morpheus8: A non-surgical microneedling treatment that improves skin texture and mild laxity at the surface level but does not remove fat.
  • Other non-invasive treatments: May provide subtle tightening but cannot achieve the same degree of fat reduction or contouring as the FaceTite procedure.

FaceTite offers longer-lasting and more transformative results than surface-level treatments alone for patients with excess fat and moderate laxity in the face and neck.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a FaceTite last?

FaceTite is considered a permanent procedure; however, it is important to note that all patients continue aging as time goes on. Factors that can impact general aging include lifestyle habits, weight fluctuations, and sun exposure.

Is FaceTite as good as a facelift?

FaceTite can be a great option for patients who may not be ready for a facelift quite yet. It is important to consider your desired results when thinking about a facelift or FaceTite. A facelift will have greater improvement as it works to correct significant aging. While FaceTite will not achieve the same result as a facelift, it addresses mild to moderate facial aging and has less associated downtime. FaceTite can also help prolong the amount of time before a facelift is truly needed and recommended.

Is FaceTite better than thread lift?

FaceTite is a more effective and permanent procedure than a thread lift. There are several complications that can take place with thread lifts, including pain, visible dimpling/pulling of the threads, allergic reactions, or migration of the threads, leading to contour irregularities. FaceTite also offers much more predictable outcomes. FaceTite is a much safer method of addressing mild to moderate jowling to help reduce the appearance of volume loss and skin laxity.

How effective is FaceTite?

FaceTite is a highly effective procedure to combat facial aging, such as sagging skin and early jowling. This technology uses heat energy to both improve contour and tighten skin of the lower third of the face and jawline.

Does FaceTite make you look older?

FaceTite does not make you look older! In fact, it works to do the opposite. While results may vary, FaceTite aims to tighten and contour the skin at the lower face and jawline.

Who is a good candidate for FaceTite?

A good candidate for FaceTite is someone who has mild to moderate jowling and mild skin laxity. Good candidates are often in their late 30s to early 50s, but these are not hard cutoffs.

How long does it take to see results from FaceTite?

Patients can see results immediately following the procedure; however, final results are judged at 3 months after surgery. Your results will improve for up to 3-6 months. It is important to note that FaceTite results will vary between patients.

Is FaceTite good for wrinkles?

FaceTite addresses skin laxity and jowling. The appearance of wrinkles can be improved to some extent. However, it is important to note that overall skin quality is best addressed with a comprehensive approach. This typically includes additional aesthetic treatments and medical-grade skincare products.

How long does FaceTite swelling last?

Swelling from FaceTite is common during the first two weeks after surgery; however, it is typically quite minimal overall. Swelling peaks about 3-5 days after surgery, and then it gradually subsides over the following days.

Does FaceTite leave scars?

Dr. Coan typically uses three small incisions, approximately 1-2 cm in length, for the FaceTite procedure. These typically heal quite well and can be nearly imperceptible. They are also placed strategically to be well-concealed.

What areas can FaceTite treat?

FaceTite is designed to target facial areas, such as the jawline, chin, and neck, to provide a more defined and youthful appearance.

Is FaceTite painful?

FaceTite is minimally invasive and performed under both local and MAC anesthesia to ensure optimal comfort during the procedure. Some patients may experience mild swelling, bruising, or tenderness afterward, but these are temporary and very manageable with our pain management protocol.

How soon can I return to work after FaceTite?

Most patients can return to work within a few days, depending on the extent of treatment and the nature of their work. Minor swelling and bruising may still be present, so it is best to plan accordingly if you are in a public-facing role.

Can FaceTite be combined with other treatments?

Yes, FaceTite can be combined with other treatments, like submental liposuction or Morpheus8, to enhance results and achieve comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Dr. Coan will recommend a personalized plan based on your starting point and aesthetic goals.

Whats the difference between FaceTite and traditional facelifts?

FaceTite is a minimally invasive procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to tighten skin and contour the lower face and neck, without extended downtime and recovery. On the other hand, a traditional facelift is a surgical procedure that provides more dramatic results by addressing extensive skin laxity, wih the trade-off of longer downtime and recovery than FaceTite.
