What Botox Beginners Should Know

With A Warm, Caring Staff and Stunningly Natural Results,
Our Approach to Surgery is Anything but Plastic

If you’re new to Botox, you probably have a few questions about the treatment. At CARE Plastic Surgery, we often get similar questions from new Botox patients during their consultations. Before you book your first appointment, here are some basics that Botox beginners should know about.

Choosing the Right Clinic for Botox

Because Botox is so popular, there are plenty of clinics to choose from, making it confusing to decide where to go when you’re just starting. It’s best to look for board-certified Botox providers including plastic surgeons or dermatologists. Board certification means that your injector is an expert in facial anatomy and knows exactly where to inject the right amount of Botox to create natural-looking results that meet your cosmetic goals. At CARE Plastic Surgery, our team is led by Dr. Brian S. Coan and includes certified nurses who specialize in cosmetic procedures. This way, you will always know you are in good hands.

Making a Treatment Plan for Botox

No two patients will require identical treatments to achieve their best results. The right treatment plan for you will vary depending on your goals, the specific wrinkles you want to address, your lifestyle, your budget, and more. During a consultation, we will work to understand your specific needs and create a treatment plan just for you. This may include other non-surgical options, such as dermal filler injections, to help achieve your goals. You can also make a plan for maintenance injections because Botox results are not permanent. Usually, patients receive injections about every 4-6 months to keep up their new, refreshed look.

How Much Does Botox Cost?

Your budget plays a role in planning your Botox treatment. On average, you can expect to spend between $100-$400 per treatment area for Botox. The treatment is typically priced per unit, meaning that the more product required to achieve your results, the higher the final price tag.

For the month of March, CARE is offering special, discounted pricing on Botox. These specials are available online, and you can purchase units ahead of time before your first appointment. March Botox pricing is as follows:

  • 25 units for $200 (save $100)
  • 50 units for $400 (save $200)
  • 100 units for $799 (save $400)

The Right Age to Start Botox

Some will say that there is a specific age when it’s time to start Botox, but this is more or less a myth. Everyone ages differently, so the best time to start Botox depends on when you start to notice lines that really bother you. Generally, most people will start Botox in their 30s, when cell turnover and collagen production begin to slow and wrinkles are first noticeable. Some patients choose to have Botox earlier to prevent wrinkles, but this is usually unnecessary. You can choose Botox when you start to see aging signs like:

  • “11” lines between the eyebrows
  • Crow’s feet
  • Smoker’s lines
  • Wrinkles and fine lines on the forehead

Risks of Botox

Botox is widely considered a safe treatment as long as you are a suitable candidate and choose a reputable, experienced injector. However, as with most procedures, there are some risks. This can include temporary side effects like bruising at the injection site or poor results like a “frozen” or asymmetrical look. These can generally be avoided by choosing a knowledgeable, qualified provider, and unwanted effects are temporary.
