Perfect Peel

“This peel has truly changed the way I look & feel about myself. I have suffered from both melasma & acne for years. I’ve always felt like I had to wear a mask of makeup to hide my imperfections. I no longer feel like I need that mask. The perfect peel has given me the skin I’ve always dreamed of and the confidence to face the world without tons of make-up. Thank you CARE!” ~ Happy Perfect Peel Client at CARE Plastic Surgery

CARE Plastic Surgery is pleased to introduce The Perfect Peel to our practice in Durham!

Since the The Perfect Peel requires no skin preparation, it may be used on all skin types and takes approximately 30 minutes from start to finish.

The Perfect Peel is comprised of a synergistic blend of seven acids:

  • TCA – Trichloroacetic Acid for penetration, deep scar healing; stimulates collagen growth;
  • Retin-A – acid derived from vitamin A to fight wrinkles;
  • Salicylic Acid – this beta hydroxy acid (BHA) is an exfoliant;
  • Phenol – has antiseptic and anesthetic properties; aids in skin penetration;
  • Vitamin C – ascorbic acid has antioxidant and mild exfoliation properties;
  • Glutathione- is an inhibitor of melanin in the skin; causes the pigment of the skin to lighten and has antioxidant properties.
  • Kojic Acid – skin lightening agent

The Perfect Peel will:

  • Revitalize skin and improve overall tone and texture
  • Reduce signs of sun damage
  • Lighten and illuminate skin tone
  • Reduce the appearance of pore size and smooth fine lines and wrinkles
  • Diminish dark spots from skin conditions such as acne, melasma, and hyper-pigmentation

How does the Perfect Peel compare to other similar peels?

The Perfect Peel offers effective acids to provide remarkable results. This exclusive blend allows for an increase in lifting of fine lines and wrinkles as well as a lightening of melasma and sun damage and hyperpigmentation. The Perfect Peel is a non-invasive virtually pain free procedure.

How many treatments will I need for visible improvement?

After one treatment of the Perfect Peel, overall skin tone and texture will appear softer, more vibrant, and refreshed. Multiple treatments may be needed depending on skin issues, especially if acne, melasma, or fine lines are an issue. Prepping for your perfect peel series with SkinMedica Retinol 1.0% along with Hydroquinone will help strengthen results. A series of 4 treatments applied once every 4-6 weeks will also allow for optimal results.

How long will my results last?

As long as you care for your skin with exceptional skin care products such as; Retin-a, Lytera, hydroquinone and a medical grade s.p.f. such as Elta MD, the improved results will be long lasting. CARE recommends two to three treatments of the Perfect Peel per year to maintain desired results.

What skin types respond well to the Perfect Peel?

All skin types and tones (Fitzpatrick 1-6) are 100% safe to treat and will exhibit considerable improvement from the Perfect Peel.

Is there any sort of pre-treating the skin required?

The Perfect Peel requires no pre-treatment of the skin prior to the peel. Patients who use Accutane must stop 3 months prior in order to achieve desired results.

Is the Perfect Peel painful?

You may feel a slight stinging or tingling sensation, this will subside after approximately 60-90 seconds. Numbing takes place once the first pass of the Perfect Peel solution is applied. We always offer a fan with treatment, however patients do not need it.

How long will my first appointment take?

The Perfect Peel application takes 15 minutes to apply. However at your first appointment plan for approximately 30-45 minutes as we will want to take pre-peel photos with your consent as well as discuss how to care for your skin during and after the peel process.

How much peeling should I expect and how long will it last?

You will experience a sloughing of thin sheets of epidermis skin that begins around day three and generally is completed by day six or seven.

What will I look like during the process and after the peeling is complete?

Once the peel has been applied the skin will either appear reddish, like sunburn, or slightly tanned. On the third day the peeling will begin. The Perfect Peel Moisturizer or Luzern Crème Luxe will reduce the visibility of peeling by hydrating the skin. By the sixth or seventh day the peeling process should be complete.

Is there anything I need to change with my daily routine after the treatment?

Normal activities, like light exercise or jogging may be resumed immediately post peel. We only recommend avoiding sun exposure, heavy exercise and excessive sweating during the peel process.

May I apply make up after the peel?

The day the peel is administered we recommend refraining from using any make up, unless directed by your medical aesthetician.

Can the Perfect Peel be applied to other parts of the body?

The face, neck, chest and hands are the most common areas for the treatment. The peel may be applied to other areas of the body, and results will differ as the skin on other areas of the body is less impenetrable.

Will my skin be sensitive afterwards?

Plan for skin to be sensitive during the peel process. Treat the skin with TLC like you would a newborn baby’s skin for the first two weeks after receiving the treatment.

Is sun exposure permitted post peel?

Sun exposure should be VERY limited. We strongly encourage using a sun protection with a minimum of 9% Zinc Oxide such as Elta MD UV Clear 46 or Elta MD UV 40 Tinted. For more active clients we may suggest the Elta MD UV Sport 50.
