What is Juvéderm?

Juvéderm® is an injectable treatment designed to fill in wrinkles and folds by restoring volume under the skin. Volume loss is an integral part of aging and happens because the skin becomes less effective at maintaining and restoring collagen. Juvéderm is made with a synthetic, cross-linked form of hyaluronic acid which is normally found in the skin and is responsible for retaining moisture and suppleness, meaning Juvéderm can be safely absorbed into the body over time. There are multiple types of Juvéderm Fillers, each varying in density. The kind of filler you use will depend on what goal you wish to achieve. The Juvéderm fillers are Ultra, Ultra XC, Volbella, Vollure, Voluma, and Volux.

What Areas Can Juvéderm Treat?

Treatment areas can vary depending on what results you would like to achieve. Common treatment areas include:

  • Cheeks
  • Fine lines surrounding the nose and mouth
  • Chin
  • Lips
  • Jawline
  • Temples

You can decide to treat one area at a time or multiple areas if you wish to have a more balanced profile view.

Am I A Candidate for Juvéderm?

Many patients can benefit from Juvéderm treatment. During a consultation with our expert Nurse injectors, we’ll discuss your ideal outcomes and goals for dermal filler treatments to make sure you have good expectations for what Juvéderm can achieve. We’ll also discuss your health history and any allergies you have that might affect whether Juvéderm is the right option for you.

How is Juvéderm Performed?

Juvéderm treatments can be performed in as little as forty-five minutes at our Cary, North Carolina office. We can apply a topical numbing cream so that you’re comfortable and relaxed. Then, the product is placed under the surface of the skin with a very fine needle once you’re ready. This process is a combination of your requested results, as well as our Nurse injectors recommendations. Our expert Nurse injectors will make sure your results are natural and flattering since dermal filler treatments produce immediate results.

Post-Treatment Care

It’s common to experience some sensitivity and redness as well as bruising at the injection sites after treatment, but this usually subsides within a day or so. You can use an ice pack to manage any discomfort and can return to your regular skincare regimen. If you opt for additional cosmetic treatments at the same time, our expert injectors will make sure you have the right instructions to follow.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of fillers do you use?

Here at CARE, we offer Juvederm fillers because we consider them to be the gold standard in both efficacy and predictability. All Juvederm fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that our bodies naturally produce. Because it is found naturally in our bodies, it is slowly absorbed by the body over time and the risk of rejection is lower overall. These fillers also contain lidocaine, allowing treatment to be much more comfortable during the injection. Some of our most popular fillers include Juvederm Ultra XC, Voluma, and Volbella.

What is a dermal filler?

Dermal fillers are typically made out of hyaluronic acid gel and include products such as Juvederm and Sculptura. Unlike Botox, fillers work by adding volume to the face. This can either serve to plump the lips or fill in unwanted wrinkles.

Do filler injections hurt?

Filler procedures include lidocaine, a common anesthetic, to help minimize any pain. Most patients feel pressure or a small pinch while receiving injections. Some choose to ice the area after treatment as well, but overall there is little pain involved if any.

When will I notice results of filler treatment?

Filler results are immediate and continue to improve for 2-4 weeks following the procedure.

How long does it take for Juvederm filler to settle?

It can take several weeks for your Juvederm filler to completely settle and integrate into the surrounding tissues. Typically, most patients will find it takes approximately 4 weeks for the injected filler to fully settle.

How long does it take to recover from Juvederm?

Most of our patients find that any side effects, such as swelling or bruising, resolve within 7-14 days of initial injection. However, it is important to note that swelling and bruising can persist longer depending on the patient.

Can I get dermal fillers in combination with other injectables?

Patients describe Botox injections as a little snap or pinch at the injection site. While some clients are more sensitive than others nearly all clients tolerate the treatment well.

How close to a big event can I get fillers?

While dermal filler results are immediate and recovery time is minimal, its common to experience bruising or swelling after injection. Allow about two weeks between your filler treatment and a big event for best results.

How long will I be swollen after Juvederm?

Most patients find that any post-injection swelling resolves within 7-14 days after treatment. This can depend on many factors, including the patient, area injected, and if pre-treatment protocols were followed.

What are common areas to treat with filler?

A: Common treatment areas include cheeks and fine lines surrounding the nose and mouth. Many patients also like to address their chin or lips with filler to address a more balanced profile view.
