Enhance your appearance and vision with Upneeq.
What is Upneeq?
Upneeq is an FDA-approved prescription eye drop formulated to treat acquired ptosis or low-hanging eyelids. Ptosis can be caused by neurological or orbital diseases such as a stroke, cerebral aneurysm, Horner syndrome, myasthenia gravis, orbital infection, or eye paralysis (ophthalmoplegia). The oxymetazoline hydrochloride ophthalmic solution in Upneeq activates receptors in Müller’s muscle which contracts and lifts the upper eyelids.
Why Choose Upneeq in Cary, NC?
Upneeq enhances your physical appearance and has health benefits that improve patients’ quality of life. It is a non-surgical approach to the eyelid lift for people with mild to moderate drooping lids. Some common reasons patients choose Upneeq include:
- “My droopy eyelids make me look and feel old.”
- “Low-hanging eyelids make it difficult to see properly.”
- “I don’t want to have surgery.”
Am I a Candidate for Upneeq?
Upneeq is designed for patients with acquired ptosis and many people can benefit. However, those with cardiovascular diseases should consult their doctor since adrenergic agonists (such as Upneeq) can affect blood pressure. Patients with untreated narrow-angle glaucoma or coronary insufficiency should also consult their doctors and be aware of any signs or symptoms of a worsening condition.
How is Upneeq Performed?
Upneeq application can be performed within a few minutes. If you wear contact lenses, you will be asked to remove them before the drops are applied and wait 15 minutes to put them back in after Upneeq is applied. One drop of Upneeq is applied to each affected eye once per day. Be very careful not to touch your eye with the Upneeq vial tip since this can scratch or injure your eye. Upneeq comes in individual vials so after the drops have been applied, you can throw the packaging away.
What Can I Expect After Upneeq?
After your Upneeq application, you will begin to see results immediately and your eyelids will remain lifted for at least 6 hours. Upneeq can be applied again the next day to maintain your refreshed appearance.
Post-Treatment Care
Some patients have reported mild discomfort or eye irritation after applying Upneeq eyedrops, but this should resolve quickly if you experience these side effects. No downtime is needed, and you can resume your daily activities immediately.
