Diamond Glow® from SkinMedica® is a non-invasive skin resurfacing treatment that uses dermabrasion to exfoliate the skin surface and create healthier, brighter skin. This is a next-level facial that combines exfoliation, extraction, and serum infusion in one quick and relaxing treatment. Products used during your Diamond Glow® procedure can be easily customized to treat different skin concerns like dry or dull skin, fine lines and wrinkles, rough skin texture, hyperpigmentation, skin discoloration, and acne scars. Although it is most commonly used on the facial, Diamond Glow® can also be used on the decolletage, neck, and back.
All of our patients can achieve radiant skin from DiamondGlow®. Before treatment, we will assess your skin to determine your skin type and specific skin concerns. This information will be used to create a customized blend of ingredients in your serum infusion. However, patients should wait to receive treatment if they have an active skin infection or severe rosacea.
First, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and prepped for your facial. A diamond tip wand will be moved across your face to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells and unclogging pores. Extractions will always be performed to remove blackheads and whiteheads and improve the appearance of congested skin. At the same time, a customized blend of SkinMedica Pro infusion serums will be massaged into your skin for deep facial rejuvenation. This treatment takes about 50 minutes.
At an additional cost, dermaplaning or a level 1 chemical peel (mild peel) can be added to the Diamond Glow® facial. These non-invasive procedures offer for additional skin exfoliation, resurfacing, and an added glow, add dermaplaning or a level 1 chemical peel to our DiamondGlow facial.
After the Diamond Glow® facial, your skin will immediately look and feel healthier. Your skin will be plumper, smoother, and have a more even tone after just one treatment but you can expect continued improvement over time. Within a few weeks, you will begin to notice small pores, fewer breakouts, and an improved appearance of your fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. For the best results, we recommend a few treatments scheduled 3-4 weeks apart.

What is a Diamond Glow treatment?
Diamond Glow is a popular and well-loved treatment in our office. It is a non-invasive skin-resurfacing technology designed to create radiant and healthy-looking skin. Diamond Glow delivers rejuvenation by simultaneously exfoliating, extracting, and infusing the skin. After the procedure, patients have noticed an improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots and discoloration, roughness, dryness, and dull skin. Diamond Glow treatments serve to deliver skin that appears brighter, fresher, smoother, clearer, and overall healthier.
Is Diamond Glow good for any skin type?
Yes, Diamond Glow is truly a treatment for any and all patients. It is an appropriate treatment for normal, oily, dry, combination, and sensitive skin types. Additionally, it is a colorblind treatment, meaning any Fitzpatrick skin type can receive this rejuvenating treatment.
What should you not do after DiamondGlow?
After your DiamondGlow treatment, you can expect to notice improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots and discoloration, roughness, dryness, and dull skin. Diamond Glow treatments serve to deliver skin that appears brighter, fresher, smoother, clearer, and overall healthier. Many patients may experience minimal to mild redness that resolves quickly after treatment.
What should be avoided before DiamondGlow?
We recommend avoiding certain skincare products, such as retinols, tretinoin, or retin-A, as well as exfoliating products for 2-3 days. These types of products can be harsh on the skin and lead to compromised skin, leading to higher risk of post-procedural skin irritation. We recommend discontinuing these products a few days prior to your DiamondGlow facial.
How long do DiamondGlow results last?
You can expect your DiamondGlow results to last for several weeks. You will notice a 72-hour plumping effect after your treatment. You can extend the life of your DiamondGlow results with medical-grade skincare products and routine at-home maintenance.
How often should I do DiamondGlow?
You can typically expect your DiamondGlow results to last approximately 4-6 weeks. We recommend patients come in every 4-6 weeks for optimal skin maintenance. For best results, we recommend continuing a medical-grade skincare regimen in between treatments.
Can I use retinol before DiamondGlow?
We would not recommend using retinol immediately prior to your DiamondGlow treatment. By doing so, this compromises the skin and can lead to more irritation. Should you forget to discontinue your retinol in advance, we can still treat you, we will just opt for a less aggressive diamond tip.
Is DiamondGlow facial safe?
DiamondGlow is considered a painless, safe and non-invasive procedure. Practically anyone and everyone is a great candidate for a DiamondGlow facial!
Is DiamondGlow better than HydraFacial?
We like to say that HydraFacial is like getting your car washed and DiamondGlow is like getting your car detailed. While they both effectively exfoliate the top layer of dry, dead skin cells, DiamondGlow is a much deeper cleaning and is truly customized to each patients skin concerns.
How many sessions of DiamondGlow are needed?
We typically recommend at least 3 treatment in any DiamondGlow package. However, it is a great skin maintenance treatment to continue throughout the year, especially as your skin changes from season to season.
Does DiamondGlow help with acne scars?
DiamondGlow can help with acne scarring to some degree. We offer other skin resurfacing treatments, such as Morpheus, that are better suited to help with both active acne and acne scarring.
What is the difference between DiamondGlow and microdermabrasion?
While DiamondGlow is similar to microdermabrasion in terms of how it exfoliates the skin, DiamondGlow takes your skin to the next level, as it incorporates extraction of debris from the pores and infusion of nourishing SkinMedica serums.
