Upper or lower blepharoplasty, aslo known as upper or lower eyelid surgery, may involve either the upper or lower eyelids or a combination of the two. What Can I Expect from the Blepharoplasty (upper or lower eyelid surgery)?
Eyelid surgery, technically called blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic and reconstructive procedure to remove excess fat, usually along with skin and muscle, from the upper and lower eyelids. The procedure can help correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below the eyes. The excess skin can give a tired or worn appearance to the face. Blepharoplasty is a common procedure that can be combined with other cosmetic procedures to surgically enhance appearance of the face, forehead, chin, cheekbones, and create a rested, more youthful appearance. This procedure is commonly performed on both men and women.
How is the Blepharoplasty (upper or lower eyelid surgery) procedure performed?
The eyelid surgery procedure is performed by making tiny incisions within the natural creases of the upper and lower eyelids. The lower eyelid incision can often be made on the inside surface to avoid a scar on the skin surface. The excess skin and any bulging fat is removed from selected areas, and the drooping skin and tissues from the cheek area can be lifted if needed at the same time.
