Breast Implant Profiles: What You Need to Know

With A Warm, Caring Staff and Stunningly Natural Results,
Our Approach to Surgery is Anything but Plastic

Small, medium, or large? Choosing breast implants is not as simple as choosing a t-shirt. Implants come in many shapes, sizes, types, and even profiles. Today, let’s learn more about implant profiles and projection so you can find your perfect fit. Remember, we’re here to help you find the right implants. This isn’t a decision you’ll have to make alone.

What Is an Implant Profile?

The profile of a breast implant refers to how far off the chest the implant will extend or the amount of projection it will have. Implants are available in many different profiles, including:

• Low profile
• Moderate profile
• Moderate plus profile
• High profile
• Ultra-high profile

The width of an implant plays an important role in determining projection. For example, if you have two 550 cc implants with different widths, the wider implant will have a lower profile, and the narrower implant will have a higher one. Implants with a smaller base have more projection than similarly sized, wider implants.

How Do Implant Profiles Impact Breast Shape?

The profile of an implant impacts the final appearance of the breasts, dramatically changing their shape. Each projection type can achieve a natural look on the right body type. We use our deep understanding of human anatomy and knowledge of breast shape to choose the right implant projection for each patient.

• Low Profile Implants: Lower-profile implants are relatively flat with minimal projection off of the chest. These implants work best on patients with wider chests.
• Moderate Profile Implants: Moderate-profile implants produce the most natural look for the majority of patients. They are ideal for women with small or narrow chests.
• High Profile Implants: High-profile implants have the most projection, typically with a very narrow base. They provide the fullest, roundest-looking results. These implants look natural on some patients, including petite women with narrow chest walls.

We’ll use your unique body characteristics and your goals for surgery to choose the right projection for your implants. Think about what you want your breasts to look like, and we’ll help you choose the implants to make it happen.
