During your initial consultation for breast augmentation, we will do a thorough evaluation your health to first determine if you are a candidate for the breast augmentation procedure. If you are a candidate, then Dr. Coan will discuss the surgical techniques most appropriate for you, your lifestyle and your desired result. At your breast augmentation consultation we will review all your options for the procedure and take the time to explain your choices. You will learn the differences between gel and saline implants. Dr. Coan will also explain the differences between having your implants placed either under or over the muscle. We also have numerous before and after photos we will share with you in our office. Out of our respect for patient privacy, we do no publish before and after photos of our patients on our website. Examples of Dr. Coan's work may be viewed in the office during your consultation.
During the procedure, an implant may be inserted through an incision made in the crease under the breast, around the areola (dark tissue around the nipple), or through the armpit. The implant may be under the breast tissue or beneath the chest wall muscle. Recovery usually requires several days off work.
